JOB TITLE: Bus Aide WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation Asst. Director of Transportation/Special Needs Team Leader PAY GRADE: PG1 DEPT./SCHOOL Transportation Dept. PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Assist the bus driver in the safe management of the school bus environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years old High School Diploma (preferred)
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Ability to work well with children Supervision of students
EXPERIENCE
Some experience working with children is desirable
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Communicate effectively with students.
2. Manage and control student behavior on the school bus.
3. Assist with loading/unloading of students.
4. Assist with supervising seating arrangements, to include maintaining updated seating charts.
5. Assist with emergency care of students including evacuation procedures.
6. Communicate with and establish positive relationships with parents and school personnel.
7. Assist driver in other bus related duties such as pre and post trip inspection, keeping the bus clean etc.
8. Maintain confidentiality.
9. Maintain professional working relationship with staff.
EQUIPMENT USED: Child safety restraints
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively, understand and be able to relate to the needs of children. Remain calm and act appropriately under stressful situations.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Extensive stooping and bending. Exposure to extreme weather conditions. |
